- I love to write, I always have loved to write, and since I was sitting around nursing my babies all day long, I thought I would use that opportunity to do something productive, and enjoyable with that time.
- I long for connection. This outlet allows me to communicate with friends and family, yes, but blogging has done much more than that. It has given me a way to connect with people with whom I share a similar experience, most of whom I've never met. They have encouraged me, offered helpful advice and blessed my life--you know who you are.
I was checking my blog stats recently, which tell me, among other things, where my readers are from. I learned that I have readers from the Isle of Man (I had to look it up to make sure I knew where it was). I realized that they (those people over on the Isle of Man--hello!) and many of you don't really "know" me. I recently read a blog post titled, Things you should know about me if we are going to be BFF. I thought it was a fun idea. So, below are a few things about me, so that all of you, especially you people over on the Isle of Man, will know me just a little bit better.
My mom is an identical twin.
I enjoy the smell of Skunk.
I was on life support for three weeks when I was 27 with a bad case of mono (I don't recommend it).
I'd rather have a glass of red wine than eat dessert.
I love gardening! (zinnias from my garden)
I love playing board games--my favorite is Scrabble.
I never cut my hair until I was a senior in college. I donated almost three feet of hair to Wigs for Kids. (this is the only picture I could find--everyone on our basketball team in high school braided their hair in dreads--I'm on the far left).
I sucked my thumb until I was nine years old (I don't recommend that either).
I'm tall, 5'10"--I wish I was an even 6'.
In 4th grade I memorized all the Presidents of United States--I can still recite them today.
I have this one rogue arm hair that is over two inches long.
I have three sisters.
My favorite food is fresh pineapple.
I started wearing contacts in 4th grade.
We have two dogs, Winnie and Fiona.
My favorite color is green.
I wore my hair in pigtails when I had the twins.
My favorite animals to see at the St. Louis Zoo are the Malaysian Sun Bears, followed closely by the penguins and puffins.
I can't stand the feel of lotion on my hands; I have to wash it off immediately.
I double majored in Biology and Psychology in college.
When people use improper English while speaking to me, I'm often distracted by correcting them in my head.

I'm glad I'm not the only PIGTAIL momma :) Though mine were french braids because that was the only way I could get my short hair up.

Skunk? Really? LOL I correct people in my head too :) Great list. Thanks for sharing.
Fellow Blog Hopper:)
I have been following your blog for a while now! I have been enjoying it a lot and can relate 100%. My twin girls are 2 weeks apart from yours (2/18/10) and one of their names is Brynn too!! Just no "e" at the end. Brooke is the other with an "e".
Great getting to hear the fun facts. Your girls are adorable!
Melissa--pigtails are so practical when you're laying down all the time. I think we should spread the word--giving birth in pigtails is the way to go! :)
Grace--welcome! Yes, skunk, I know, I'm weird. I heard on the radio once that one out of 100 people enjoy the smell of skunk. Apparently, they just aren't brave, or weird enough to admit it like I am--ha!
Erin--thank you so much for saying hi! Aren't our girls at such a fun age? Every day they are doing something new--I love it! You have excellent taste in baby names--Brooke and Byrnn are great!
The first time I smelled skunk, I said," mmm...that smells like coffee, smells good!" without realizing it's skunk. But after a while the smell got so strong I didn't think it smelled that good anymore! :p
Yay, the Malaysian Sun Bear made the list! But truth to be told, I probably have only seen a sun bear once or twice in Malaysia, in a zoo. I'm surprise to hear the St. Louis Zoo has them!
Julia! I thought I knew you pretty well, at least for the first 18 years :) I didn't know you had an awful time with mono, but am glad everything turned out well.
I do know that you had the longest hair of anyone I have ever known! I also remember your birthday party where your dad grossed us all out and told us what hot dogs are made of, lol.
I also didn't realize you sucked your thumb until you were 9...I sure hope Alison doesn't suck hers that long! What helped you get rid of it?
Anyway, thanks for sharing more facts about you. Happy New Year!
Lisa
Haha apparently the rouge arm hair runs in the family, I have the same things Jules! I also correct people in my head as well when using improper English. "I'm doing good." haha
And you forgot to mention who your favorite sister was ;)
-Babs!
How fun!!! I was going to write "I didn't know your mom was a twin!" and then I realized, I didn't know ANY of these things, so that comment would have seemed weird =) HA!
So grateful to have met you - my fellow pro-attachment-parenting-&-breastfeeding-twin-momma =)
