Ring Around The Rosie

Ring around the rosie
Pocket full of posies
Ashes, ashes
We all fall down!
Water drips from our bodies as we dance in a circle. Tiny droplets, cool us from the stifling heat of the day.

I marvel.

These little creatures amaze me.

They learn things so quickly.

Sponges. Soaking in life.

We've danced the song only twice, and they've got it!

I am constantly pricked with the awareness of my mission; mothering our girls.

To radiate love and instill love.
To teach them to be kind.
To help them know Jesus.
To foster compassion.
To model gentleness.
To encourage resilience.

I recently read this:
A mother’s soul is the book of life a child will read. A mother cannot pass on to her children what she herself does not possess. That is why a mother must always be a student.... ~Sally Clarkson
Those wet girls, dancing with their mama, need me to garden my heart. To seek wisdom--always.

They draw from me how to live this life, how to be.

They are:

listening
watching
mimicking
learning.

It is; therefore, prudent of me to seek new:

thoughts
ideas
perspectives
life
each and every day.
Above all and before all, do this: Get Wisdom! ~Proverbs 4:7a

What beautiful little darling to enjoy and enrich their lives with your love and share what the Lord has blessed you with.
Thank you for sharing and reminding even an old grandma that she too can still have influence on her grandchildren.
Happy 4th of July
Blessings

May I join you poolside? This looks like a perfect dipping pool! I threatened to drag the old baby pool out from under the house the other day. Those are such sweet times. And I love, love, love that Sally quote! It reminds me of a friend who once told me that her father used to say that when you "educate a woman, you educate a family". Always seeking wisdom! Love to you and a very happy Independence Day!

This was such a lovely post. It's been a bit of a rough few days and this was such a nice reminder of why we do all the hard things that we do. It isn't just about sucking it up and being a grown up, it's about being a model for our little ones. I think I'm going to post that quote somewhere, I just love it. Enjoy the pool!

AMEN and AMEN! Love this (thanks for the Clarkson quote!).

And - seriously - your girls are adorable. Those cheeks...I could just reach out and squeeze 'em!

Last but not least, I've started doing yoga at sunrise too. It really helps my quiet time, and my whole day!

I love the quote you used from Sally Clarkson. "A mother’s soul is the book of life a child will read. A mother cannot pass on to her children what she herself does not possess..." And how you said your girls need you to "garden my heart." So true and so beautiful. Thank you for sharing. :)

You summed up the motherhood mission poignantly and beautifully and I, too, am blessed by the quote!

So true, and so appropriate that I read this post right after I heard Drew sing for the first time.

I hope he learned that from me...

I just love all the pool photos. So adorable!

We finally got ourselves a little blow up pool today. I wanted a simple one, like the one you have, but hubby decided our guys needed more bells and whistles- which take up quite a bit of space, and don't leave a whole lot of room for "swimming" around. But our kiddos LOVED it. I'm so glad we got it for them. Now, I just have to keep my fingers crossed that the pool will last all summer. :o)
