Check out these awesome, mama (and papa) approved ideas:
- An alarm clock that lights up to tell your kids when it's okay to get out of bed. Genius!
- Five crafts with pipe cleaners.
- Cute idea to show your child growing.
If there's one thing I've learned from Pinterest, it's that, while some of the ideas on there have me racing to the nearest craft store---there are plenty of things already around the house that I can use to entertain the girls without setting foot outside of the house.
Cheaper and easier.
I've discovered that you don't have to paint with just paint brushes.
You can paint with:
- pine needles
- peach pits
- corn husks
- packing peanuts
- bubble wrap
- Q-tips
- pencil erasers
- cotton balls
- flowers
- pom-poms
- fruit
- vegetables
- plastic pop bottles
- toothbrushes
- dice
- hands and feet, of course
If you avoid paint, because your littles like to put things in their mouths---there are a few great (easy!) recipes for edible paint over here as well.
I've been collecting and organizing all these painting ideas for quite some time, but hadn't tried them out.
One snowy day, I decided to grab some pine needles, and have the girls paint the snow they were watching fall from the sky.
I used:
- construction paper
- white paint
- pine needles
- my old tee shirt as a painting smock
- glue
It was messy, but they were entertained for a good 30 minutes making their "snow". They dipped the pine needles in white paint, and painted on the construction paper.
After the paint dried, we glued the pine needles on the paper for trees.
Here are the finished products:
Can't wait to see what you're loving this week!

You are a brave mama! I'm sure your girls loved it, though! :)
We should try this one...it could be the only time this winter the babies see "snow."
You're really nice. I just don't like messes. Therefor, I do NOT like paint. I avoid it. When I see these cute things on pinterest, do I pin them? NOPE! Your girls will be much further ahead than my boys will. Good for you!
Very creative! My girls LOVE watching the snow - this would be a great activity for them! It would be messy, but an old tshirt is a perfect painting smock for them. Brilliant!
And the pictures are cute after they dry as well - an added bonus =)
That looks like so much fun BUT messy...I gotta work on that....LOL!
Linking up for the first time! I tried to cipy code to my blog...hope it works!!
:)
Thanks for helping me get past of my painting fear. :)
I did the white paint with pine needles thing with my kindergartners this December, and using the tips turned out really cute. In the past I've used bubble wrap, but the tips actually looked like snowflakes.
Keep posting your fun projects- You are inspiring me! :)
